Race Results: Boom to di City - powered by Guinness 2015

The Boom to the City Canoe Challenge – powered by GUINNESS was held Saturday, February 21, 2015 with 24 teams competing with participation in our seven categories. The race started off and Henderson’s Bank and ended at Riverside Tavern for a fun afternoon of good food, music, GUINNESS by the bucket, and the prize giving.

Of the ten Males entered the top spot went to OCB Wavemakers - Chris Guydis, Jerry Rhaburn and Wilberto Daniels – sponsored by Oceana, Creative Marketing, Black Orchid Resort and Guydis Canoes, with the winning time of 2:43:52. Second Male was Westrac Stingers at 2:44:04 with Jerry Cante, Hener Cruz and Erwin Cruz. Third place Male was NICH in at 2:44:15 with Efrain Cruz, Felix Cruz and Alexander Cruz. Fourth Male and still within that minute was BTL Cobb’s Arm at 2:44:21 with Roy Cano, Eric Cano and Clayton Cabb. Rounding out the top five was Belize Bank Bulldogs at 2:45:13 with Armin Lopez, Daniel Cruz and Amado Cruz.

Race Results: RF&G UP and Down 2015

The Belize Canoe Association held its first Up and Down River Challenge in the Cayo District sponsored by RF&G Insurance. It’s the third race of the season; it attracted eleven canoes in all categories except Juniors. The race started on the Mopan River at the Bullet Tree Bridge and wound its way downstream to Branch Mouth and then upstream on the Macal to the turnaround point at DuPlooy’s Jungle Lodge. A station prize of a hundred dollars sponsored by DuPlooy’s for the first canoe to reach was won by Wateva Boyz. Turning here the canoes raced downstream into San Ignacio to the river bank by the Wooden Bridge where they then ran with the canoes to Hode’s Place for the finish.

UpStream: Houlover to Boom 2015 Race Results

The 5th UpStream: Haulover to Boom Canoe Race was held on January 24, 2015 and a total of 17 teams participated. It was a beautiful day with a pretty strong wind making it a little tougher for an upstream race but all teams finished this short but gruelling distance. A big thank you to our host, the Henderson Bank family for a delicious meal afterwards held at their restaurant.

Once again it was a surprise to see no entries in the mixed category but all other categories had winners. The Junior Category was won by the Rangers - Martin Gideon, Ray Nicholson and Dominique Alvarez - sponsored by the Ranger Security Company with a time of 2:46:01 and 13th place over all.

The Intramural category had 2 entries Wateva Boyz - Adrian Williams, Sergio Lopez and Jesus Linares - sponsored by D & D Consultancy they were the first to the finish line at 2:21:47 and in 6th place overall. Team BRHS Unruly Wave – Jeffery Seguro, Marlon Reyes and Matthew Mask – sponsored by Belize Rural High School at 2nd place and 11th overall with a time of 2:43:06.

Tacos Fest Race Report

TACOS FEST 2015 RACE REPORT

 

The Tacos Festival 2015 Race was held on Saturday, November 22, 2015 in conjunction with the Annual Tacos Festival in Orange Walk District.

Ten (10) teams in four different categories gathered and the starting line at Lamanai Eco Tours Resort, from where they left at 10:12 a.m. The teams travelled along the Belize New River for an average of 1 hour and 45 minutes, after turning at the 2nd Bypass Bridge and racing back to Banquitas for the finish.

In the Male Category, there were six contenders:  Cobb’s Arm, Westrac Nitro, Guydis Canoes, Belize Bank Bulldogs, NICH and Koop Sheet Metal and it proved to be a competitive race. In the end, Belize Bank Bulldogs’ – Armin, Amado and Bayron Cruz - claimed first place in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 49 seconds by outsprinting NICH’s - Efrain Cruz, Felix Cruz, Alex Cruz,- who settled for second place by a very narrow 1 second margin, completing the race in a time of 1:28:50.

The Intramural Category was claimed by the Whateva Boyz- Carlos Linarez, Adrian Williams and Sergio Lopez – in a time of 1 hour 39 minutes and 15 seconds, and the Pleasure Category was claimed by Print Belize’s – Rudolph Gentle, Leroy Romero and Jason Trapp – in 1 hour 42 minutes and 37 seconds.

Guydis Too and Challenge Gobie Foundation battled it out in the Mixed Category, but after 1 hour 46 minutes and 31 seconds, Guydis Too’s – Martin Gideon, Avis Guydis and Felix Rhaburn – would win the category and Challenge Gobie Foundation’s Minguel Mangandid, Bradley Ayala and Roxana Lemus would get second place in a time of 1:50:14.

All first place teams received $200.00 and second place teams received $100.00.

Canoe Registration

The Coast Guard will be assisting BCAnoe with canoe registration and life jackets / PFD inspection. This is to ensure that your life jackets and / or PFDs are serviceable. This will be done at the time of registration of your canoe. Only inspected life jackets and/or PFD that have been tagged will be able to be worn during our events.
